GET INVOLVED
There are many ways to support the work that the Free Market Foundation does for the cause of liberty.
FUND FREEDOM
Civil society groups like the FMF are on the front lines of the battle for freedom in South Africa, but we cannot succeed on our own. We need your help to win this fight. With your financial support, we can spread the message of individual liberty, challenge government power, and help all South Africans to become ‘state-proof’.
Support the Free Market Foundation
If you would like to support the Free Market Foundation directly, please note the following:
THE URGENT OPPORTUNITY
Stagnant economic growth. Record high unemployment. Threats to private property rights.
South Africa seems to be in terminal decline, but the state is simply too big, too inefficient and too corrupt to fix the mess we are in.
Is there any way out of this malaise?
THE PRACTICAL SOLUTION
While many people understandably despair at the state of the country, we at the Free Market Foundation (FMF) are more optimistic.
We believe that South Africa’s problems are easily solvable. However, change won’t happen on its own.
Only by applying relentless public pressure and actively challenging the status quo will we bring about the change that South Africa desperately needs.
WHAT WE STAND FOR
The FMF stands for your right to freely pursue your own aspirations without unwanted interference.
Our mission is to promote and defend the timeless principles of individual liberty, private property, free enterprise, and limited government.
WHAT WE DO
The FMF conducts rigorous, evidence-based research to expose the consequences of bad policy and propose workable alternatives.
We influence policymakers through submissions to parliament and influence the climate of opinion by producing hundreds of media outputs a year.
Our work helps to shift the national conversation toward freedom and market-based solutions.
PROVEN SOLUTIONS FOR LASTING IMPACT
FMF approaches all policy-related problems through the lens of liberty.
The FMF engages in a range of issues, but the core of our policy agenda is outlined below:
PROPERTY RIGHTS
The FMF has opposed expropriation without compensation (EWC) and has facilitated the transfer of almost 23,000 title deeds through its Khaya Lam Land Reform Project.
LABOUR MARKET REFORM
The FMF has championed the Job Seekers Exemption Certificate (JSEC) to enable unemployed South Africans to voluntarily opt out of restrictive labour laws.
DEREGULATION
The FMF is a vocal proponent of minimising state intervention in the economy and removing red tape.
RULE OF LAW
The FMF defends constitutional principles in the courts through its Rule of Law Project.
FEDERALISM
The FMF advocates for decentralised governance through its Campaign for Home Rule.
PRIVATISATION
The FMF advocates for privatising state-owned enterprises and state functions more suited to private provision.
PROJECT FINANCING
Would you like the FMF to undertake a funded project that is close to your heart and that is consistent with our mission and core principles?
PLANNED GIVING
A bequest in your will to the Free Market Foundation would be appreciated beyond measure. We will do everything within our means to ensure what you have left us is put to efficient and impactful use.
If you wish to include conditions in your bequest, please get in touch with us so we can guarantee the FMF would be able to comply.
