Summary
The Free Market Foundation opposes any upwards adjustment to the national minimum wage (NMW). More fundamentally, we urge the NMW Commission and the Minister to recognise that the NMW and the broader suite of labour legislation have become instruments of exclusion that consign millions of South Africans, particularly the young and low-skilled, to enforced idleness.
