Defusing the Joblessness Timebomb: Restoring Dignity and Choice Through Labour Regulation Exemption

Summary

The Free Market Foundation’s Job Seekers Exemption Certificate (JSEC) is the boldest, simplest antidote yet proposed.

Any person unemployed for six months or longer can walk into a local municipality and walk out with a free, instantly revocable JSEC. For 24 months, the certificate suspends every labour law – minimum wage, bargaining council extensions, dismissal procedures, equity targets – for the worker. The unemployed finally get to say: “I choose work on my terms, not the state’s.”
