The FMF was featured on the Herald on the necessity of political decentralisation.
The campaign is aimed at reviving South Africa’s old, proud, and increasingly relevant federalist tradition.
No sincere MPC party will be able to reform the ANC away from corruption.
We believe that South Africa’s crises are caused by bad policy that emanates from the central government.

The virtue of decentralisation is that it spreads out problems, dilutes them and mitigates risk.
The MPC could represent a new pillar in South African society that unites around its charter of values, like the rule of law, federalism, an open market economy, and non-racialism.
Refusing to enforce bad laws, equipping local bodies to solve local issues, and ignoring the whining of the ANC would go a long way to help the Western Cape gain some real, meaningful autonomy.
It seems likely that the MPC parties might also fear the consequences of truly committing to the federalism inherent in the South African Constitution.
Local communities must stop allowing their mayors and councillors to point to Pretoria and say “not my problem”. Only local residents can make it the local government’s problem.
