On 20 January 2023, Dr Leon Schreiber MP caused to be published in the Government Gazette a General Notice which indicates that he intends to introduce in Parliament, as a private member’s Bill, a Remuneration of Public Office Bearers Amendment Bill, 2023.

After years of sustained pressure especially from organizations like Sakeliga, the government relented in November last year and promulgated regulations stating that state-owned enterprises (SOEs) no longer have to comply with B-BBEE requirements when awarding government contracts.
