Should citizens organise themselves to build power outside of state structures? Martin van Staden and Dr Ernst Roets discussed the gap between theory and practice in the context of constitutional rights at a recent FMF event.

They discuss the work of organisations such as the Zionist Federation, AfriForum, and the Solidarity Movement in South Africa, as well as the New Hampshire Free State Project and Federalist Society in the United States.

FMF Legal Researcher Zakhele Mthembu recently appeared on eNCA news to discuss the Competition Commission's decision to penalise Takealot for an apparent market monopoly.

Zakes argues that imposing penalties on successful businesses is harmful to the economy as the foundation of a free market revolves around consumers having trust in and making purchases from such enterprises.
