South African Airways
The demonopolisation of South African Airways (SAA), exposing the airline industry to competition, has made the flag carrier at best a redundant and at worst a parasitical leech on taxpayers. Continued tax funding of SAA amounts to the poor subsidising the air-travelling wealthy. The airline should be privatised or liquidated.

A panacea for SAA?
Many details would have to be worked out, but the principle remains: a new company, flying SA’s colours, able to compete against other international airlines and make a profit.

South Africa urgently needs privatisation for economic revival
Across the board, privatisation will mean lower government spending, which will allow for a more responsible budget that can either redirect funds to more important projects (like policing) or ease the burden on the taxpayer.
